(1972-77, BA Hons, LLB Hons, Sir Syed Hall, Aftab Hall) Aligarh Muslim University, joined IPS at age 20 in his first attempt at UPSC examination in 1977. During training as an IPS probationer he was awarded Revolver Rifle Shooting Championship Trophy at National Police Academy Hyderabad by the Honorable Prime Minister of India and Horse Riding Championship Trophy at National Academy of Administration Mussoorie by the Honorable Home Minister of India. In his career spanning over 35 years Dr Khan held various assignments throughout the country. His toughest posting was as SSP and DIGP in Kashmir in early nineties where he bravely fought militancy. His most challenging assignment was as Officer on Special Duty to the Honorable Union Minister of State for Home, Internal Security, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, New Delhi.
